PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR’S INSENSITIVITY – YAKS DANJA

PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR’S INSENSITIVITY

written by Danja Dafwam Yaks

Government’s primary responsibility is the protection of lives and property of citizens… It’s no news that both the federal government and state government have abdicate and therefore failed woefully in that regard.

The killings within the Middlebelt of Nigeria has continued unabated with thousands of deaths been recorded…
It took the present administration led by President M. Buhari long time and much pressure from civil society organizations (CSO)and human right bodies before he accepted to visit and condoned with the affected communities and states.

It’s day 9 after the genocide that took place in Plateau state and while President M. Buhari, his vice, Senate President and so many V.I.P have visited the state to commiserate with the state over the unfortunate terrorist acts, None of them took time to visit the scene of the crime nor visit the over 10,000 displayed persons taking refuge in 10 IDP camps scatter within B/ladi,Riyom and Jos south local government areas of the state to commiserate with them.

The only visitor Worthy of note and commendation is the Speaker of the House of representative who took time in company of House members representing the affected areas to visit the state government and the most affected at the IDP.

The supposed chief mourner in the person of Governor Simon Bako Lalong is yet to make an official state broadcast, no official day declared for mourning, yet to visit the genocidal scene, yet to visit the closest IDP in Bukuru.
In all the states where such genocidal acts where carried out, they masses came out in larger numbers to protest, they were welcomed by the Number one citizen of the state. That of Plateau state was different..Mr. Governor shut the gate against his people forcing women to take the lead in climbing the fence and gate to force it open, all that the security personnel could do was to open fire on them(luckily no life was lost).

Sadly, he drives pass the gate of the IDP with his motorcade. Am sure with the usual smiling face that depicts insensitivity. The narrative been sold out is that the victims stole the cows of the aggressors hence it’s a reprisal act.

I won’t be wrong to conclude “Mr. Peace” didn’t visit the IDP because the lil children, women and the entire people are thieves… So it won’t be right for him to condone with criminals if not what on earth has made him not to visit and commiserate with them…

President Buhari had earlier made an order that NEMA should immediately respond to the plight of the people who are displaced, that hasn’t been done yet, they only came round and made an “assessment of the situation” as at the time of putting up this report, there’s an out break of diarrhea at one of the camps which infants and Lil children are affected yet no govt presence…

What wrong have they good people of Plateau state committed to deserve such an ill treatment from their Governor.

Finally, i implore those around the governor to as a matter of urgency plea with Gov Simon Bako Lalong to be on the side of the GOOD, LOVELY AND HOSPITABLE PEOPLE OF PLATEAU STATE…
