The Government’s confirmation is coming less than two months after the Supreme Court fixed November 11 to hear appeal filled by Architect Hudu Ibrahim Manomi challenging the selection of Charles Dakat.
Manomi wants the apex court to quash the appointment of Dakat as he was he was originally selected by eight out of the eleven kingmakers on May 17, 2004 and got a judgement in his favour on April 13, 2006 by a Plateau state High Court. He also wants the Supreme Court to restrain Dakat from parading himself as the Sum Pyem and also stop the Mangu Local Government Council and Plateau state Government from going ahead with the coronation.
Manomi has however written a petition and sent to security chiefs in the state intimating them of the illegality of going ahead with the coronation saying it could jeopardise the peace and unity of the area. He called on the security agencies to advice the Government to put on hold the coronation until the determination of the Supreme Court.
