Victims of crisis in Plateau have been trained by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The training which was in collaboration with APURIMAC Onlus trained 150 victims of Plateau crisis in different vocational skills ranging from tailoring, catering services, hairdressing and computer science among other programmes.

Mr Matthew Alao who is the Officer in charge of conflict prevention and peace building of the United Nations Development Programme stated that the aim of the training was to support the State government as it works towards sustaining peaceful co-existence in the state.

Victims of crisis in Plateau have been trained by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The training which was in collaboration with APURIMAC Onlus trained 150 victims of Plateau crisis in different vocational skills ranging from tailoring, catering services, hairdressing and computer science among other programmes.

Mr Matthew Alao who is the Officer in charge of conflict prevention and peace building of the United Nations Development Programme stated that the aim of the training was to support the State government as it works towards sustaining peaceful co-existence in the state.

Alao said that a development of a hundred years could be eradicated by a conflict of 10 minutes. He added that the UNDP had done a lot to build on the capacity of the security operatives in respect of civil protection during crisis and helped civil societies through communal mediation.

He said “We at UNDP has a mandate to ensure peace and stability in all it areas of operation especially plateau state where we have been since 2001 to promote peaceful co-existence among Youths.”

Mr Godwin Okolo who is the coordinator of APURIMAC responded by saying that over 10,800 persons have been trained in various skills acquisition across the state.
