Plateau State Gov. Caleb Mutfwang Emerges Independent Newspaper’s Best Governor of the Year

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has been honored with the Independent Newspapers’ Best Governor of the Year Award in the Community Empowerment category.

The award, presented by the Daily Independent Newspapers Limited, recognizes Governor Mutfwang’s extensive community-focused initiatives within the Jos Bukuru metropolis and throughout Plateau State’s local government areas.

At a ceremony held at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on Saturday, the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, received the award on his behalf. Governor Mutfwang dedicated the award to God and to the entire people of Plateau State for their steadfast support to his administration since it came into office.

Over the past 11 months, the Mutfwang administration has concentrated on establishing a robust infrastructure, revitalizing the city center, and enhancing the state’s economy for the collective benefit of all irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

Among the key projects highlighted by Governor Mutfwang are the revival of the defunct rail transport system, the introduction of modern MAN-Diesel buses for the Plateau Express Service Limited, and the ongoing road rehabilitation and construction within the greater Jos master plan and its neighboring local governments. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to improve service delivery across the state.

Governor Mutfwang urged the media to collaborate with his administration in its reconstruction efforts, emphasizing his commitment to restoring peace, security, and facilitating the return of Internally Displaced Persons to their ancestral homes.

Steve Omanufeme, the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Independent Newspapers, welcomed the guests to the event and commended the awardees for their meritorious contributions to their states and, by extension, to Nigeria.

The event also celebrated the achievements of other distinguished governors, including Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun of Ogun State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, among various notable figures.
