The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has written a letter of complaint to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris.

The letter was presented to the Commissioner of Police Plateau State with the caption “Imminent Threats to Democracy, Rule of Law and the Militarization of Ekiti State by Security Agents as part of plans to rig the governorship election of July 14, 2018”,.

While delivering the letter on Thursday in Jos to the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Undie Adie, for transmission to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the PDP chairman in Plateau Hon. Damishi Sango, said; “We write this letter in respect of the above subject matter expressing our disappointment over the episode that occurred yesterday, Wednesday July 11, 2018 in Ekiti State”.

The letter stated further that “the PDP in Plateau State had planned to come out en masse and carry out an open peaceful protest against the attack and rape of democracy by the Nigeria police on the Executive Governor of Ekiti State and members of the PDP in that State as directed by our National Secretariat”.

The PDP further stated in the letter that as law abiding citizens, the State chapter of the Party, observed and refrained themselves from the procession in view of the ban on public procession at this period that there is a fragile, and/or, threat to peace in Plateau State.

Listing its grounds of petition, the Plateau PDP observed the attack and harassment of Governor Ayo Fayose by men of the Police, DSS and the Army.

The Party said; “In the early hours of today, July 11, 2018, the Ekiti State Government House was fully brought under siege and totally barricaded by agents of the federal government, the Police, Army, and DSS in their thousands under the command of Compol Mopol Echel Echel”.

The PDP also complained that the security agencies attacked and teargased the Governor of Ekiti State which it stressed is condemnable and a flagrant abuse of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by which the governor enjoys immunity, even before our courts of law.
Citing several other grievances, the PDP urge the IGP to use his good offices to restrain the conduct of his officers and men to do the needful, now and in the future.

“That the fundamental rights of the Ekiti citizens of the Peoples Democratic Party is infringed upon and stands condemned by all international standard and other relevant law of the Land.

” We the state chapter of the party are in solidarity with our brethrens from Ekiti state and other part of the country, and condemn in the strongest terms the undemocratic act in its entirety “.
