ONE MURDER TOO MANY, A CLARION CALL FOR ACTION.

The Plateau Our Heritage, POH, received the news of the  shocking murder of the acting District Head of Foron, Da Bulus Chuwang Janka, by suspected Fulani terrorists at his residence in Rasat,  Foron Dsitrict of Barkin Ladi of Plateau state with deep sorrow. 

The POH condemn the unprovoked attack which is coming at a time the people are hoping the long awaited peace that has eluded parts of the state would be resolved in no distant time as past efforts by government and several stakeholders suggest.

As if this was not enough,  another set of Fulani herdsmen from Guava/Mahanga area of Jol Community in Riyom LGA have reportedly attacked local miners and injured some in the process; thereby throwing the entire area in serious tension.

We are pained that our people are daily waking up to this dastardly acts which, has taken a toll on social and economic aspects of their lives thereby rendering them helpless in the face of these challenges. 

 We sadly note that a threat at seizure or annihilation of any part of plateau state should be treated as a threat to all of us and those saddled with the leadership of our common heritage must re-examine our current curtailment strategy.

The carrot without stick method is surely failing us.

The POH appeals for calm while tasking the authorities to wake up to their responsibilities as this acts of murders are highly unacceptable. 

We use this opportunity to sympathise with the plateau state Joint Traditional Council, under the able leadership of HRM, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Barkin Ladi Local Government and indeed, the Berom nation over this painful murder of the revered traditional ruler. 

Plateau state and it’s citizens are facing a very difficult moment with the activities of fulani militias, bandits and other criminal elements, that is why, the POH is calling on the local, state and federal governments to rise up to the occasion and do the needful for the safety of the inhabitants. 

The POH is disturbed by these acts of criminality on the people; noting of recent that farmlands are not left out in these acts of wickedness, which if not checkmated, will spell doom for a quick return to peace. 

The era of lip service by the authorities’ concerned is over as the current period; is a call for action with a view to nip in the bud, the frequency at which killings and maiming of innocent citizens; including  the destruction of farm crops and other economic mainstay of the people are concerned. 

The POH condoles with the immediate family of the deceased and the good people of Foron District for the repose of the soul of the deceased royal father.
