Plateau opens bid for redevelopment of Jos main market

Plateau state government on Thursday opened bid for the redevelopment and enhancing of the Jos main market .
Speaking at the occasion the commissioner of commerce in Plateau Eziekel Daju who was represented by the Permanent secretary of the ministry Mr Samuel Ngomar, said” today is a milestone towards rebuilding the Jos Main market,this is a practical effort to rebuilding the main market ”
“The market is so dear to Plateau people and the Simon Lalong led administration is determined to rebuild the market. ”
Our Correspondent reports that Plateau State Government had in 2016 signed a N230 million worth Memorandum of Understanding with a UK based company; the Roughton International London Limited in collaboration with Cynergy Associates Consortium to commence the first phase of redevelopment and enhancement of the burnt Jos Main market which was gutted by fire 16 years ago.
Ezekiel Daju further said the market popularly called Terminus market, remains a critical project to the development of the state :
Our governor Simon Lalong has said that he is determined to boost economic activities in our state and I am calling on the citizens of the state to support him at all times.
He commended Governor Simon Lalong for his determination to re-build the market which he described as a onetime economic hub for not only the State but the country and West Africa.
Assistant Project Manager of Roughton International Engr. Chiedu Ojidoh , assured the state government that the company would carry out the exercise with diligence and the bidding would be done on the basis of professionalism and competence of the bidders
Our Correspondent reports that The two bidders are MM Attat construction Limited represented by Henry Duamyim and Edil Belmonte Limited represented by Mustapha Abbas.
Professional bodies like the Nigerian Bar Association ,Traders and other bodies all witnessed the occasion.
