The Ogomo Jere of Pengana Chiefdom, His Royal Highness Esua Mamman Shayang, has solicited for the intervention of security outfits in Plateau State in the rescue of his subjects from suspected bandits who normally come in groups to block the highway and attack motorists.
He gave instances including the invasion of Jingre and its environs by about 50 armed men who are also terrorizing other parts of the state and the roads leading to Kaduna States, thus creating sleepless night for the communities.
He stressed the need for the Plateau State Commissioner of Police to collaborate with the Special Task Force, also known as Operation Safe Haven, to mount checkpoints around Fuscar Mata-Jingre Road to check the menace.
The royal father commended the government of Governor Simon Lalong for giving him the privilege to serve his people after a keenly contested election that brought him on board.
He described democracy as the best system of government, which had worked very well in the last 18 years in the country, saying the people should not be discouraged by the security challenges facing the state.
He expressed the hope that in the nearest future, the country will overcome it, saying God Almighty will surely sustain the system.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with government at states and federal levels in whatever way towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
He said one of the challenges facing him at the moment is the rainstorm that destroyed residences, including the fertilizer warehouse.
