Nigeria’s Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara Arrives Jos on Condolence Visit

The Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara this afternoon arrived Jos, Plateau State to condole with the government and people of Plateau State on the attacks that killed over 250 people in Barkin Ladi and Riyom LGAs, Plateau State.
The Speaker was received by Rep. Barr. I. D. Gyang Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Fed. Constituency, Rep. Johnbull Shekarau member representing Shendam/Qua’anpan/Mikang Fed. Constituency, Rep. Engr. Solomon Maren Member representing Mangu/Bokkos Fed. Constituency, Rep. Timothy Golu Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Fed. Constituency, Plateau State House of Assembly Minority Leader and Member representing Riyom Constituency Hon. Daniel Dem, Hon. Peter Gyendeng, Member representing Barkin Ladi Constituency and many others.
The Speaker on arrival met with the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Simon Lalong, Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Rufus Bature, Chief of Staff, Hon. John Dafaan and other Cabinet Members.
The Speaker condemned the killings and described it as barbaric and inhuman.
He condoned with the government and good loving people of Plateau State while calling on the security agencies to live up to their responsibility of protecting and defending lives and property as well as demonstrating professionalism in the discharge of their official functions.
The Speaker urge government and security agencies to enforce arrest and prosecution of those behind the killings.
He prayed for the repose of the deceased while praying for healing on those injured in the barbaric attacks.
The Speaker later visited the Gbong Gwom Jos, HRM Da Jacob Gyang Buba and later visited those injured in Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
He is billed to visit some displaced persons.
