Plateau Killings: Sen. Simon Mwadkwon Calls for Overhaul of Nation’s Security Architecture for Better Performance

Following the unfortunate and unprovoked attacks by Terrorists that led to the killings of scores, the destruction and looting of property in Bokkos, Barikin Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State, former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon PhD has called for the immediate and complete overhaul of the Nation’s security architecture for optimal performance and better results.
Sen. Mwadkwon said this is necessary to overcome the threat to national security being posed by terrorists in Plateau State and other parts of the Country.

The Lawmaker made these known during a press briefing with Journalists at his Residence in Jos North LGA, Plateau State.
He disclosed that it is important for the security agencies to enforce the arrest of the Perpetrators of the killings.

He called on the Nation’s security agencies to redouble their efforts, show more commitment and display genuine patriotism in the discharge of their cardinal constitutional duties in order to achieve their overall mandate of protecting the nation’s territory integrity against external aggressors and other criminal elements especially those perpetrating the heinous crimes against innocent citizens of Plateau State and other parts of the Country.
While urging security personnel to be more proactive in using intelligence information on attacks to tackle potential security threats, he urged government at all levels to demonstrate the needed will power to overcome the insecurity confronting the Nation as well as make the security and welfare of the citizens top priorities. He said the security agencies must exert power and deal decisively with perpetrators of crimes against humanity.

Sen. Mwadkwon said the terrorists are emboldened to continue with crimes over the inability of the Nigerian government to ensure terrorists are arrested and made to pay dearly for their crimes they have committed according to to the laws of the land.
“Those killers are not ghosts, they are residing in the lands they sacked the owners from. We are pained and saddened with the security situation that led to the killing of numerous persons” he said.

He sympathized with the government of Plateau State and all those affected by the inhuman act of the terrorists and enemies of peace.
