The central zone chapter of Plateau Initiative for the Advancement and Development of the Natives (PIDAN) has renewed its call on the government at all levels in Nigeria to support the establishment of a civilian joint task force to permanently put an end to continues attacks on the citizens of the zone. PIDAN made this call in a press statement made by its secretary, Dr. Katkukah Danjuma Gokum. The press statement which was made available to this medium reads thus:
FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
RENEWED ATTACKS ON PLATEAU CITIZENS: PIDAN CENTRAL ZONE IN DEEPER PAINS.
20—06—2025.
Recent attacks in Manja and Tangur communities in Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas of Plateau Central Zone respectively have left us in deeper pains as we mourn and count our losses. These attacks which occurred in the evening hours of Thursday 19th June, 2025 left us in deep shock due to its unabated nature.
We have made several calls over time for governments at all levels to wake up to their responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of its citizens. As the attackers have shown that they are never tired of pursuing their genocidal agenda, we once again re-echo our voices with a strong call on the government to establish a civilian joint task force for our communities as the most viable option to put the situation under control. We are certain that if this is done, our pains will subside as we recover from the pains that have already been inflicted upon us and resettle comfortably in our ancestral lands. We urge the government to take this call very seriously because we must avoid a situation where our people will be permanently sacked from our communities.
We condole very sincerely with all those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate carnage. May God give us the strength to recover from our shock and losses and continue with our normal lives.
Dr Katkukah Danjuma Gokum
Secretary, PIDAN Central Zone
