Plateau Covid-19 Lockdown: Riyom LGA Arrest Over 12 Violators

Authorities of Riyom Local Government Council of Plateau state, have arrested over 12 persons for flouting the lockdown order of Governor Simon Lalong aimed at checkmating the spread of Coronavirus pandemic .

Hon Mafeng Gwallson , the Management Committee Chairman of Riyom who spoke to our correspondent said security operatives on enforcement of restriction of movements order, on friday arrested the suspects for violating the stay at home directives of government.

He said these individuals were tried and fined by the mobile court and asked to return to where they were coming from .

It could be recalled that Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State on Monday ordered a total shut down of activities of the state effective 12 midnight of Thursday 9th April 2020 to 11pm Wednesday 15th April 2020 for fumigation of the entire state .

The state Government also set up 10 mobile courts to try violators of the order.

Governor Lalong who flagged off the fumigation exercise on Friday said “We have also been preparing in the unfortunate event that if any case is recorded in Plateau state so that we can respond appropriately .”
He said that although no case has been recorded in Plateau as at today , the state cannot relax , “We have to remain vigilant and proactive “

Hon Gwallson lauded the Plateau state commended the efforts of Governor Simon Lalong for the prompt proactive steps it is taking to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus in the State.

He called on citizens of the state to support the APC led Government at all times.
