Plateau commissioner Yakubu Dati commends Media for promoting peace

Media organisations in Jos the Plateau state capital have been commended for promoting peaceful coexistence in their reportage.
They have also been enjoined to support the Rescue administration of Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong through the propagation of it’s five point policy thrust.
The Commissioner of Information, Yakubu Dati stated these during the commencement of his advocacy visits to some Federal government owned media outfits in Jos.
The Commissioner commended them for their support in making the visit of President Mohammadu Buhari to Plateau State a grand success.
The Commissioner along with the Permanent Secretary, Mr Christopher Bello also urged media organisations to see the State Government as partners in progress willing to build relaionships that are mutually beneficial.
The Commisioner was received at the NTA Jos by the Zonal Director of the network centre, Nurudeen Adesina Idris who sued for closer collaboration between the ministry and the station.
Mr. Idris charged the ministry to consider the promotion of jingles on the theme of peaceful co-existence using the different ethnic groups in the state
NTA’s assistant director, Sani ibn Salihu thanked the commissioner and his team for the visit and said that NTA will continue to play its role as a partner of progress.
The commissioner also visited the Zonal office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), where he also expressed the gratitude of Governor Simon Lalong and the State for the organization’s coverage of State activities.
He assured NAN of the ministry’s support and cooperation in order to benefit from its vast network and real-time coverage. ,
Responding, NAN’s Zonal Director, Ephraim Sheyin said NAN was poised to support government programmes and policies in line with its mandate.
He assured the commissioner of the organization’s support, and urged the ministry’s management to subscribe to NAN’s mobile app, adding that it would be beneficial to the organization.
Mr. Sheyin thanked the commissioner for always responding promptly to inquiries and appealed to him to look into the issue of the state-owned newspaper, The Nigeria Standard with a view to regaining its lost glory.
