Plateau 2019 election tribunal – New panel constituted as litigants prayers answered

A new panel to help look into the 22 petitions filed at the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, may have its inaugural sitting tomorrow, the 28th of May, 2019.

This was disclosed today by the Hon. Chairman of the current panel, during pre-hearing session today.

You would recall that, Chief S. G. Odey (Esq) had on behalf of the Counsels and litigants in the 22 petitions, appealed to the panel to make a case, over the huge work load and the need to meet the 180 expected to complete hearing and delivery of judgment in the 22 petitions.

You would also recall that, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is also expected to have its inaugural sitting tomorrow.

However, at the pre-hearing today, the petitions filed by Hon. Jonathan Dabo, Johnbull Shakarau, Danjuma Haruna, Sanusi Inuwa, and Napoleon Shagaya, challenging the victories of Maitala Haruna, Hon. Koomsul, Engr. Solomon Maren and Hon. I. D. Gyang, respectively were heard.

From the Orders of the Tribunal, pre-hearing sessions in most of the petitions may close on the 30th of May, 2019.
