Plateau state Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has said that it is determined to deliver a free fair transparent and credible local government council election to the people of Plateau state . It also said due to a request from all the registered political parties in the state, the period for the conduct of party primaries in respect of the forthcoming local government council elections in Plateau state has been extended to cover the period Friday 13th October 2017 to Monday 20th November 2017.

This was contained in a statement signed by Hon Fabian Ntung the chairman of the commission and made available to newsmen in Jos on Friday . The statement reads that “This development has also necessitated the adjustment of dates for the conduct of some activities during the process, the date for the elections however remains the same, that is on Saturday 17th February 2018.”

“Interested members of the public ,stakeholders and especially prospective candidates may wish to check their political party offices ,Plateau state Independent Electoral Commission PLASIEC headquarters Jos ,PLASIEC area offices in the seventeen local government areas and the 325 state electoral wards where the revised timetable and guidelines have been displayed.

“Once more all concerned are enjoined to continue to be peaceful and law a bidding during the period of this exercise ,while the commission is determined to deliver a free fair transparent and credible local government council election to the people of Plateau state.”
