Incessant Attacks: Lalong declares dusk to dawn curfew in Bassa LGA

News available to us suggests that the Plateau state governor, Barr SImon Lalong has declared a dusk to dawn curfew on Bassa LGA in a bid to forestall further loss of lives.

He has also directed that a special military search be undertaken within the Irigwe chiefdom and neighbouring areas, including – the Bassa, Vom and bordering areas of Manchok etc, in a bid to nab the assailants.

In a statement released by the Director of Press Affairs to the Governor, the message read “the executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon Barr Simon Lalong has directed that a special military search and enforcement be undertaken around all ancestoral lands surrounding the Irigwe chiefdom with a view of identifying and bringing to book assailants who have constantly attacks communities”. “Consequent upon this and in order to guarantee an effective operation and the safety of all law abiding citizens, the Governor has approved the imposition of a dusk to dawn Curfew over Bassa Local Government Area. That is from 6pm to 6am daily, with immediate effect until further notice.

“All Community Leaders, Village Heads, Ward Heads, District Heads and Paramount Rulers of all areas bordering Irigwe Chiefdom are directed to ensure strict compliance with the Curfew Order and other specific Security Measures that would be put in place, to guarantee the peace and security of the entire citizens of the entire Bassa Local Government Area.”

The Governor wishes to assure all law abiding citizens of the Area that Security Operatives are under strict instruction to ensure appropriate Military-Civil Relations in the enforcement of all necessary Security measures for the good of all.

Citizens are therefore enjoined to cooperate with the Security Operatives and to volunteer all necessary information that will aid the effective conduct of this exercise, to guarantee a Safe Haven in the whole of Bassa Local Government Area
