Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) chairman, Mr Peter Dalyop has said that six political parties have been cleared to contest in the January 30th Local Government elections.

The chairman said that the political parties cleared include; All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA), Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and All Progressives Congress (APC).

The chairman said that the political parties cleared include; All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA), Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dalyop stated that he was satisfied with the screening and clearing of candidates of the political parties and that the screened candidates list would be released on Monday. He added that recruitment and training of ad hoc staff would be done close to the election date.

The chairman said that he wasn’t aware of a suit filed by APC to stop the elections because the party participated fully in the screening exercise while also presenting candidates in the entire local government councils. He said “I can tell you that we have not seen any paper on such suit up till now”.
