Planned Nationwide Hardship Protest: Plateau State Government Dialogues With Youth Leaders

The Government of Plateau State has on Tuesday 30th July, 2024 in Jos, the Plateau State Capital engaged Youth Leaders, appealed to them to rethink their position and not proceed on the planned nationwide hardship protest that is scheduled to start from 1st August, 2024.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Arc. Samuel Jatau made the appeal during a dialogue with Youth Leaders across the various communities within Jos North, Jos South LGAs and other Youth groups in the State.
Arc. Samuel appreciated the youths for the massive support that brought the Governor to power and said he is aware of the hardships being faced by the People which have made the Governor come up with deliberate efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
He said there are numerous interventions being put in place to ease the problems the citizens of the State are facing.
He pleaded with the youths to consider the fragile peace being enjoyed in the State and ensure that they rethink on the proposed Nationwide protest for the sake of the peace and prosperity of the State.
“The Governor is a sensitive and responsive person who will continue to do his best to alleviate the sufferings of the People.
“The provision of farm inputs have made farming better which he said will translate to bumper harvest. All of us are Witnesses to the efforts deployed by our responsive and proactive Governor to address the numerous challenges ranging from economic, insecurity, and others bedeviling the People”

In his own part, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of the State, Hon. Jeremiah Satmark disclosed that the State government under the leadership of Barr. Caleb Mutfwang is working assiduously to stimulate economic growth and provide an enabling environment for the Youths to thrive and prosper.
He said the Governor is determined to build the capacities of the people especially the youths and women to help them excel and achieve their potentials.
He admonished the Citizens of Nigeria and Plateau State to give President Bola Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang time to fix the numerous problems they inherited from their Predecessors.

Earlier in his remarks, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Wase Local Government Council and Plateau State Chairman of All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Hamisu Anani appealed to the Youths not to embark on the planned nationwide protest considering how fragile and delicate the State is in security wise.
Hon. Anani highlighted some infrastructural development and people-oriented programmes and politicies carried out by the present dispensation in the State which he said are laudable urging the citizens to continue to give the needed support to the Governor to do more.
He said the concerns raised by Nigerians are genuine but said the peace and security of the State must be considered.

Plateau Youth Council Central Zone Coordinator, Cmr. Alex Audu said youths should be desirous of building the State and avoid any action that will not augur well for the unity, peace and progress of the State.

It will be recalled that Nigerians have proposed Thursday 1st August, 2024 to commence a nationwide protest to draw government attention to the hardships, insecurity and others being faced.

The proposed Nationwide protest is tagged “End Bad Government in Nigeria” has has gather supports from persons across the Country who are not comfortable with the economic situations especially the persistent increase in prices of goods/services in the Country, high cost of living, poor standard of living and other forms of hardships being faced.
