A Youth Activist and House of Assembly Hopeful for Barkin Ladi Constituency, Pharmacist Chun John Ezekiel has decried the ongoing security threat, attacks and killings in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

He called on the Plateau State Government to revisit the Law establishing the Security Outfit, Operation Rainbow and work on strengthening it with the aim of addressing the security challenges in the State.

He further called on the Executive Governor, His Excellency Barr. Simon Lalong to discontinue his Convention trip to Abuja to attend to the security situation in the State.

He condemned in strong terms the barbaric, inhuman and wicked attacks, killing and injuring of dozens today in Gashish District, Barkin Ladi LGA.

He made this known in a “Save Our Souls” extreme distress release made available to Viewpoint Nigeria as contained below:

Good evening plateau!
We are once again, faced with the sad event of broad daylight massacre from killer herdsmen as been witnessed this evening in the remote areas of Gashish-Gindin akwati axis of Barkin Ladi local government area.

This worrisome attack has so far, between mid afternoon and now, left no fewer than 28 people dead and many injured. The innocent aboriginals within the area under attack would have though that a government in place would do everything possible to safeguard their lives and property.

I am deeply saddened and worried over the near silence of constituted authorities towards rapid response and eventual prevention of the menace. Many questions have remained unanswered, as natives continue to loose lives, properties and ancestral heritage.

Before it’s too late therefore, I passionately appeal to his Excellency, Gov Simon Bako Lalong to quickly review the whole document establishing operation rainbow and sort for gazetted ways of involving local community youths to officially fight insurgents.
To my mind, relying on and reinforcing the operation rainbow mechanism may provide an immediate arrest of the situation while other lasting solutions are brainstormed upon. It can provide more power and human resource that will mimic the long debated state police of wether to be or not.

Finally, I will appeal to His Excellency to abandon whatever he’s currently doing in Abuja, get back to Jos for there is fire on the mountain and his attention is dearly needed to save souls.

A greater plateau is possible…..
