Religious leaders under the aegis of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) yesterday advised Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong ,not to be distracted by praise singers and critics.
The group led by Rev. Stephen Dangana, Chairman, Plateau Chapter of PFN gave the advice in Jos, when they paid a courtesy call on the governor.
He said “Remain focus on what you are doing, don’t be distracted by those that may praise you in your presence.”
“Only God knows what they may say behind you.
“Don’t also allow those who may criticise and even insult you, don’t follow what they are saying or doing in order not be distracted.
“Continue to look up to God in everything you do because it is God who sets up kings and it is God that dethrones kings,” he said.
According to him, human beings trust their strength, wisdom and ability but stated that strength and wisdom come from God.
They congratulated governor Lalong for his re-election and described it as an act of God.
Speaking at the occasion, Lalong told the clerics that it is the prayers of people like them that is sustaining the state and making the impossible possible.
The governor said that his philosophy is to face his enemy with love as love could neutralize enmity.
“Plateau is blessed, nobody can take that away from us. As a matter of fact we are the Jerusalem of Nigeria.
“When we pray God will forgive us and bring back the glory of Plateau and that is happening now with the return of peace,” he said.
He assured the clerics that he would continue to work for peace in state.
He said that there could be no
development without peace.
Lalong further said his adminstration is determined to better the lives of citizens of the state .
