PEPSA Gets Partnership with Plateau State Malaria Initiative, Global Health Supply Chain and Breakthrough Action Nigeria

The Management of the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) led by the Director General of the agency Mr Samuel Dapiya has received a major boost by securing partnership for waste management in the State.

The development was disclosed when Mr Samuel Dapiya received on a courtesy call the State Coordinator of the Plateau State Malaria Initiative Mr Ndak Kizito, who was accompanied by team leads of Global Health Supply Chain and Breakthrough Action Nigeria, Plateau State, Mr Godson Kingsley and Dr Adeye Olushola respectively and members of their team.

The Plateau State Coordinator of the Malaria Initiative, under the Ministry of Health, Mr Ndak Kizito disclosed that with plans in place to Kickstart the distribution of Insecticide treated Mosquito Nets in the State, it is important to partner with PEPSA because the exercise will not be successful without the agency.

Corroborating this position, the Team Lead of Global Health Supply Chain, Godson Kingsley said that the distribution of the nets to beneficiaries in the over 300 state wards in Plateau State, a lot of waste was going to be generated and so it was imperative to partner with PEPSA to ensure that the waste is properly managed. He hailed PEPSA for keeping the Jos City Center and the state clean, adding that maintaining such was as a result of the hard work and dedication of Mr Samuel Dapiya led PEPSA.

In his reaction, the Director General of PEPSA Mr Samuel Dapiya thanked them for the visit and pledged the support of the agency in the entire process of the distribution, adding that the PEPSA workforce across the 17 LGAs of Plateau State will be fully involved to ensure that standards are maintained. He emphasized the role PEPSA is already playing as a critical partner in the fight against Malaria by keep the environment clean thereby reducing breeding grounds for mosquitoes and by implication reducing the prevalence of malaria. He expressed optimism that with time, mosquitoes will be done away with giving way to a Malaria free society.

The State Coordinator of the Malaria Initiative Mr Ndak Kizito then presented a copy of the itinerary of the distribution to enable PEPSA prepare and plan ahead.
