Pengana Constituency Bye-election: APC’s Candidate, Hon. Yakubu Sanda Wins Electon

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress Yakubu Yackson Sanda as winner of the Pengana state constituency bye-election which held today Saturday 3rd August, 2019 having scored 9, 222 beating his closest rival Yakubu Busa Buji Jamaika of the People’s Democratic Party who scored 7083 at the final collation.

Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Noel Wanang of the University of Jos made the declaration at the collation centre, government college Jengre, in Bassa local government area.

The struggle for the Pengana state constituency was keenly contested by 4 candidates across different political parties after the demise of the Member-Elect, Hon. Ezekiel Afon in the February general elections.

The bye-elections was held in 127 poling points across 7 wards with over sixty thousand registered voters.

In the final results, APC Emerged winner with a margin of 2, 139 votes, with 16, 523 votes cast, and 187 rejected votes.

Earlier during the balloting, National commissioner North Central Prof. Anthonia Simbine visited some polling units to observe the exercise and adjudged the process to be orderly and peaceful
