Following the announcement by INEC of August 3rd, 2019 as the date for the conduct of the bye-election for Pengana Constituency of Plateau State House of Assembly after the demise of the Member-Elect, Late Hon. Ezekiel Afon, the PDP in Plateau State under the leadership of Hon. Chris A. Hassan has constituted a five-member committee to liaise with PDP Bassa LGA to conduct credible Primary election that will produce the Candidate for the election.

Even though Hon. Yakubu Bussa-Buji was the PDP Candidate during the March 9th, 2019 and came 2nd, there is no indication if he will be considered as a consensus Candidate of the Party.

The resolution of the constitution of the committee was contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. John T. Akans, Ksm and made available to Viewpoint Nigeria which reads:

The state working committee of the people’s Democratic party, plateau state has today set up a (5) five man committee that will conduct primaries in respect to the pengana state constituency bye election that has been slated for 3rd of August 2019 by the independent electoral commission (INEC).

Committee members are..

1,The state organizing secretary, Hon Gwott yakubu Chocho.

2, The state woman leader ,Mrs Martina Dakur,

3, The state publicity Secretary, John T Akans ksm,fcia.

4, The State youth leader, Hon Iliya Zakare.

5, The State Legal Adviser, Hon Binchen Jantur.

The committee has been mandated to in conjunction with the Bass local government Chapter of our great party organize and conduct free,fair and credible primary election on Wednesday the 10th of July 2019/

As a responsible Democratic party we are committed to the good of all Nigerians particularly plateau people, we are also mindful of the fact that our people have been subjected to poverty, hunger killings and nepotism, under APC.

In line with our believe and commitment to the plight of our people, we called on the good people of plateau state and pengana constituency in particular to continue to keep faith with the party as shown in the last elections.
