POSITION OF THE PAN NATION ON THE PURPORTED SUSPENSION OF HON. ISSAC KYALE KWALLU EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN QUA’AN PAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL.

The attention of the PAN NATION under the aegis of PAN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (PDA), PAN WOMEN ASSOCIATION (PWA), PAN YOUTH ASSOCIATION (PYA) AND NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PAN STUDENTS (NAPANS) has been drawn to the news making the rounds concerning our illustrious son and shining example of Youth in Politics.

Since assumption of office in October, 2018, Hon. Isaac Kyale Kwallu has discharged his duties diligently with courage, commitment and determination. This explains why he is celebrated beyond the shores of Qua’an Pan LGA for the numerous achievements recorded in the areas of Peace and Security, Agriculture, Education, Health, Youth Empowerment and infrastructural Development which are in tandem with the Rescue Mission of Governor Simon Bako Lalong.

The achievements recorded in the last one and half years by the Divine Mandate Administration of Hon. Isaac Kyale Kwallu were confirmed and attested to by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during its oversight visit to the Local Government Area on Wednesday the 24th June, 2020.

We have however, received with utmost dismay and reservations in a sudden twist, the self-contradictory action of the Plateau State House of Assembly which purportedly suspended Hon. Isaac Kyale Kwallu on allegations of insubordination and non-payment of the salaries of some Honorable Councilors of the Local Council on Tuesday, 30th June, 2020 via Peace 90.5 FM Radio.

We feel obliged to speak strongly on behalf of all Pan sons and daughters both at home and in the Diaspora, against this act of injustice and outright abuse of power by the Plateau State House of Assembly under the Leadership of Rt. Hon. Abok Nuhu Ayuba, in what appears to be a grand design to intimidate and suppress the Pan people, as well as stall the unprecedented developmental strides recorded by the Isaac Kwallu led Administration.

We wish to categorically reject in its totality, this unjust and unpopular action of the Plateau State House of Assembly which is aimed at subverting the collective will of the people of Qua’an Pan, who stood under the sun to overwhelmingly vote for Hon. Isaac Kyale Kwallu during the Local Government elections in 2018.

We call on the Speaker and indeed all Honorable Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency, rescind its unpopular decision so as to enable the Executive Chairman focus on discharging his Constitutional responsibilities to the good and Peace-loving people of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.

It is a Constitutional travesty, by the Plateau State House of Assembly to interfere with the law which provides for the running of affairs of the Local Government Councils as this could be likened to the National Assembly of the Country, purportedly suspending the Executive Governor of a state for any alleged misconduct.

The position of the Law is very clear regarding the role of the Elected Councilors as the Institution which is responsible for checkmating the excesses of the Executive at the Local Government Level.

It is therefore apposite, that this unpopular decision is reversed immediately, in the interest of Plateau State, as the ridicule which will be attached to this unpopular and illegal act, will generate negative publicity for the Plateau State House of Assembly and the good People of Plateau State.

We will appreciate if the Plateau State House of Assembly will heed the cry of Civil Society Organizations and pro-Democracy Groups who have lent their voices in condemning this anti- people, anti-Development and anti-Democratic action.

We equally pray that the Plateau State House of Assembly will reverse forthwith, this ignoble decision through a timely statement in order to restore its standing as representatives of the people. This would allow the hard-working Chairman, continue his efforts at improving the lot of the Pan people who have suffered unjustly by this action.
