One Year in Office: Prof. Chris Yilgwan Appreciates Staff For Achievements, Lauds Gov. Mutfwang for Making Health of Citizens His Priority

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Professor Christopher Sabo Yilgwan has attributed the remarkable successes recorded and achievements made so far since he assumed Office a year ago to the management and staff of the Tertiary health Institution. According to him organizational success cannot be achieved without a supportive team who are ready and willing to give their all to achieve the set goal of the organization.

Prof. Yilgwan applauded the team spirit; collaborative and cooperative efforts of the management, other staff and union leaders of the Hospital for catching and running with his vision of transforming the health institution and taking it to lofty heights.

He made these known during an interactive session with Media Practitioners at his Office on the occasion of his One Year in Office. He also stated that the enthusiasm to make progress by the Hospital’s workforce was very high and encouraging.

He further lauded the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for making the health of the Citizens of the State his priority, for being accessible and always ready to assist the Hospital whenever there is need for intervention. According to him, He met decayed infrastructural facilities, unconducive work environment and staff who were not certain of their employment and not paid for a long time. The management he said was able to address most of the problems that required urgent attention while greater attention are being given to other challenges inherited.

He further stated that the Hospital was having 17 Consultants when he took over the mantle of leadership but it can now boast of about 40 Consultants who are working round the clock to ensure exceptional health service delivery. He hinted that 22 new Consultants were injected into the system for the four specialities. He said he is working towards the full migration to e-hospital system away from the paper-based operations he met on ground.

He reeled some of the achievements to include the landscaping/beautification of the front view of the Hospital, expanding the physiotherapy department by setting up a mini complex, provision of 100 beds (including pillows and mattresses), ground water reservoir and the recirculation of ground water pipes and his ability to influence the TASTE water project through partnership which he secured one Month in Office as Chief Medical Director

Others he said include the radiodiagnosis and imaging centre which is now operational, installation of solar lights and Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras, renovation of eight man quarters for House Officers and the building of the Hospital Server Room. He said the hospital now have full services such as CT Scan, MRI, digital X-ray, ultrasound and others.

He further disclosed that the welfare of the Staff will remain his priority so that the Hospital can have a highly motivated workforce who are ready to add value and provide exceptional services.

Highlights of the event were milestone tour and group photograph.
