  1. with deepest disagreement and sadness, The Nigerian Youth Coalition for Democracy, Good Governance and Development condemned the unjustified and indiscriminate increase in the cost of life-sustaining essentials such as foodstuff, petroleum, Electricity Tariff, among others.
  2. From the inception of this administration in 2015, Nigerians have been experiencing a continues rise in prices of essentials products, for example the cost of bag of rice had risen sharply to N28,000, N29,500, N31,000 from N8,500; bag of maize to N21,000 from N3,00 and fertilizer to N12,000 from N2,500.
  3. This administration’s audacious impunity has led to the climax in price of fuel pump from N87 to N162 per litre, Electricity Tariff from N22 to N66, Value Added Tax to 7.5% from 5%; Dollar exchange rate also follow suite to N480 from N195, ECA to $2.5bn from $72m and External debt to $ 27bn from $ 9.bn.
  4. The worse economic situation affecting Nigerian and Nigerians are necessitated by three factors; Removal Subsidy, Closure of borders and increase in VAT.
  5. Nigerian Youth Coalition for Democracy Good Governance and Development, have in totality condemn the Buhari led administration for leading and keeping Nigerians in this situation.
  6. The country under this administration is experiencing high rate of crime and criminality; insurgency and banditry; armed robbery and kidnappings; rampant rapes and sexual abuses, smuggling and corruption; poverty, hunger and destitution ; IDPs, unemployment and school dropouts have thus escalated to totally unacceptable proportions in the country.
  7. It is our hope that this administration would look into the yearnings and suffering of Nigerians and find ways of solving them for a prosperous and better Nigeria.

8.its in the light of the above situation that we call on Nigerians to wear black in protest of the untold hardship in the country before taking another action for the wellbeing of Nigeria and Nigerians.

  1. Finally, we are pained by the sad state of things in our country today, Nigerians are dying in silence, people are no longer safe in this country. No degree of grammar can express the weight of our hearts.

May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
