NSC commends Lalong,s efforts towards completion of Jos Inland Container Depot

Zonal Coordinator (North Central Zone) of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr John Choji on Tuesday expressed appreciation to the Governor of Plateau State, Hon Simon Lalong for his consistent support and untiring efforts towards the resuscitation and completion of the Inland Container Depot in Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Govt Area of Plateau State.
Mr Choji also commended the Governor for keeping faith with his promise of not only retaining the project in Plateau State but ensuring its successful completion.
John Choji stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning in Plateau , Barr Festus Fuanter in his office in Jos.
He said that the Jos inland container deport on completion would provide employment for youths as well as boost economic activities in the state .
In his response, Barr Fuanter reiterated the Governor’s passion in the completion of the Inland Container Depot knowing the multiplier economic advantage it portends for the State.
The Commissioner informed the Zonal Coordinator that it was out of the Governor’s desire to see to the completion of the ICD Project that he approved and ensured the immediate payment of compensation to the Concessionaire Duncan Nigeria Ltd in addition to ensuring the timely issuance of the Letter of Exchange for the Project. According to the Commissioner, the Government is also in the process of attracting offshore funding through Foreign Investors to the Concessionaire in addition to both Federal and State Government support.
Similarly, the Hon Commissioner, Barr Festus Fuanter also received the Plateau State Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Luka Fomson who was on a familiarization visit to the Ministry. According to Hon Fomson, Public Complaints Commission is a Federal Government establishment charged with the responsibility of providing redress to Citizens with Complaints. He said the Commission is at the verge of concluding its request to the Federal Character Commission on the need to recognize the privilege of reserving employment quota for the junior cadre in all Federal Establishments in Plateau State for the citizens of the State.
He however requested that the Commission would require a piece of land to enable them build their permanent headquarters.
Responding, the Hon Commissioner, Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Barr Festus Fuanter commended the Public Complaints Commissioner for the good work they have been doing and promised to secure a piece of land for the Commission as it has been the desire of the Plateau State Government to encourage all Federal Agencies to be head quartered in Jos.
