We would not relent in pursuit of peace,security – Lalong

Plateau state governor Simon Lalong, on Monday said his administration would not relent in her pursuit of the agenda of peace,security and good governance .

Lalong who was represented by his deputy Sonni Tyoden made this known while speaking  at the opening ceremony of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) in Jos Plateau state capital.

He also  said his administration would continue  to revamp the tourism sector 

He said it is my esteem honour and privilege to welcome all delegates to the AGM of the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) ,which Plateau is partnering to host in Jos.

Your choice of Plateau state as a host of this years AGM is an open attestation of the tourism credentials of the state ,and even a greater affirmation of the commitment of our rescue administration to the development of tourism in the state.

Upon assumption of office about three years ago  our administration unveiled a five policy thrust governance intervention agenda ,the first of this thrust is peace ,security and good governance and the fifth is the provision of critical physical infrastructure and the development of a sustainable environment .

The security of lives and properties in an environment of peace and peaceful co existence as a primary concern of government ,it is the fulcrum upon which we desire to promote the attainment of a sustainable environment, where anarchy and chaos remain the order of the day ,no meaningful development can be attainted  much less the creation of tourism destinations for recreation ,your professional services as travel and tours operators in the tourism sector, is enhanced essentially through the guarantee of peace and security .

Further to this and considering the immense potentials that Plateau possesses given the advantage of an all year round cool weather ,Government saw the need to provide critical infrastructure in its urban governance and rural transformation agenda ,the reason for this is simply to ensure that facilities are available across the state to make life easier for the various communities in the state and the community of visitors.

The Plateau state ministry of tourism and hospitality together with all her subordinate agencies  over the past two  years have made concerted efforts in ensuring  that through the annual cultural and entertainment event tourisms  ,which which have held in the state ,that activities are created to keep Plateau state in the tourism calendar of events in the country ,the Plateau state carnival  ,road show and music fiesta are experiencing and receiving National recognition and I can assure you it would soon rival the calabar carnival .

I make bold to say that the All Progressive Congress APC led government of President Muhammadu Buhari has made the issue of addressing the country, s insecurity a major agenda ,Plateau state has not relent in her pursuit of the agenda of peace,security and good governance ,

No responsible government can afford to let the economic potentials of the tourism and travel industry to remain fallow ,and this underscores the new focus of our government .
