The Plateau State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Innocent Emmanuel has led a powerful delegation made up of the State Officers Council for an advocacy visit to the Chairman and State Executives of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) at the group’s Secretariat in Rwang Pam Street Jos, Plateau State.
The NMA delegation were warmly received by the State Chairman, Pharm. Dauda A. Dangiwa and Members of the PSN Executives Team.
Pharm. Dauda congratulated the New NMA Officials on their victory at the State Convention and described the visit as one which will consolidate on the bond of unity already established during the Dr. Titus Dajel-led Executives & charged them to build on what has started with PSN. The PSN Chairman also congratulated Prof. Innocent A. O. Ujah, FNMA, mni on his election as NMA President and as the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences Otukpo, Benue State. He described Prof. Ujah as a Father, Teacher and Mentor on the Plateau.
He also thanked the leadership of NMA at the National level for standing by them during the turbulence and crisis that bedeviled their association in the past and appreciated the role NMA played, by helping PSN to resolve the issues.
The NMA Chairman, Dr. Innocent Emmanuel thanked his PSN counterpart for the warm reception and the brotherly love he had demonstrated to the NMA SOC. He stressed that the visit was to thank the PSN for their partnership with NMA and also to seek for more collaboration in order to strengthen the health sector in Plateau State.
The two Professional bodies expressed their readiness to work with each other and highlighted the following areas of partnership:
- Collaborative Research in Hospitals and in the University setting.
- Interprofessional harmony and organisation of medical outreaches.
- Mutual cooperation for the growth and development of the Health care in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
