“Nigeria’s Security Challenges are Not Insurmountable” – Maj. Gen. Aligbe, Commander TRADOC

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army, Major General Kelvin Aligbe has disclosed that the security challenges bedeviling the Nation are surmountable and will soon be tackled with the support of government and well-meaning Citizens of the Country.

Maj. Gen. Aligbe who was the Special Guest of Honour and also the Examination President of the “2024 Lieutenant to Captain Practical Examination made this known at Crispan Suites and Event Centre Hall Jos on Thursday 15th February, 2024 during the closing ceremony/Cocktail in honor of the Candidates who participated in the two-week long “Lieutenant to Captain Practical Examination 2024”

He said his assessment of the Practical Examination undertaken by over 400 Lieutenants have shown that the Nigerian Military will not have leadership vacuum, as the future Leaders are well-trained, discipline and committed to confront the security challenges in the Country. He expressed optimism that with the needed cooperation and supports by well-meaning Nigerians, the security challenges would be a thing of the past.

“This Candidates that have written this examination this Year, in the next 25 to 28 Years depending on what is operational would be standing here to address younger Officers as either GOC, the Commander TRADOC, Chief of Army Staff or even the Chief of Defence Staff. We started just like you” he said.

He registered his admiration for their comportment and discipline throughout the two weeks they undertook the examination as there was no report of untoward behavior from any of the Candidates or the syndicate.

He stressed “I am pleased and believe that as an Army we are doing well, so I would not be scared that when the time comes and the curtain falls on my career, that we would be leaving a system that would surely be in good hands with what I have seen in the last two weeks”

He commended the synergy between all Heads of security agencies on the Plateau and admonished them to sustain the tempo in order to overcome the security challenges in the State.

He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja for his encouragement and believe in what they are doing in the Training and Doctrine Command and the Nigerian Army as a whole as well as for ensuring that resources were released in due time to achieve all the training programmes and activities.

He said TRADOC would continue to train, educate, develop and build the Nigerian Army to enable the personnel protect the Nigerians and defend the territorial integrity of the Country in line with its core mandate.

In his remarks, the Chief Host, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Headquarters Jos Nigerian Army and Commander Operation Safe Haven commended the Candidates for their resilience all through the exercise which he said was rigorous and demanding but essential for the growth and development of young Officers for better future leadership positions.

He lauded members of the examination panel for their unwavering commitment, expertise and dedication throughout the examination. He said “Your meticulous evaluation and fair judgment have been instrumental in ensuring that our young officers are assessed with the highest standards possible”. “To the candidates, I want to express my admiration for your diligence, determination and hard work throughout this examination process. You have demonstrated the qualities of discipline, leadership and professionalism that are essential to the future of the Nigerian Army. Regardless of the outcome, your dedication to this process is a testament to your commitment to serving our Nation” he hinted.

He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja for finding 3 Division Worthy of hosting the 2023 Lieutenant to Captain Practical Examination as well as the Commander TRADOC for his guidance and direction during the period of the Examination.

Representative of the Candidate, Lt. Chivir Mercy Akpesue in her remarks appreciated the Nigerian Army and the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) for the exercise which she adjudged as tasking though rewarding saying it is aimed at improving their proficiency and adding value to their career progression.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of souvenirs and cocktail.
