Ahead of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2024 that is taking place at the 3 Division Nigerian Army Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has arrived Jos, the Plateau State Capital on Tuesday 2nd July, 2024.
His first point of call was to the Governor of Plateau State where he reaffirmed his unwavering dedication and commitment to consistently transform the Nigerian Army towards achieving its overall mandate of protecting the territorial integrity of the Nation against external aggression and other criminal elements. He assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to work to protect the lives and property of the Citizenry.
The Army Boss appreciated the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang for the support provided to Army formation in the State assuring the Governor of more security personnel to the State as well as the deployment of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to stem security challenges.
He commended the existing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army, Plateau State Government and the Citizens with the promise to do more to cement the relationship and better security synergy.
In his remarks, Governor Caleb Mutfwang applauded the role being played by the Nigerian Army and other Sister security agencies that has led to the actualization of relative peace since his assumption of Office. He saluted the courage and determination of the Nigerian Army personnel who have made huge sacrifices to keep Nigeria as a united nation.
He further commended the deployment of professionalism by the Nigerian Army in carrying out its duty in the State.
The Governor said “We are glad that you chose Plateau State this year as the venue for the Army Day celebrations. To us, it is an honor. It is a sign of the confidence you have in Plateau State, that at least in the last one year, you have done remarkably well.
“This is not surprising because I would recall that when the Chief of Army Staff and other Service Chiefs were appointed last year, there was some sort of celebration across the nation. This was not only because the security architecture was being done to reflect our federal character as a country, but of course, because a cream of very competent officers were chosen.
He assured of the support of his administration to the Nigerian Army to achieve its mandate of restoring peace in the State.
Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja in company of other Army Generals and Officers were also at the Palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Plateau State Joint Traditional Council, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR to seek royal blessings and informed the Traditional Ruler of the celebration that brought the Army to the State. He also informed the paramount Ruler of the efforts being put in place to tackle the insecurity in the State and Nation.
His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba CFR appreciated the high-powered delegation for the visit, for the positive steps taken to tackle insecurity and assured of the support of the Traditional Council at all times.
Officers and Soldiers of the Nigerian Army are in Jos, Plateau State to celebrate the 161 Years of existence the Nigerian Army with numerous activities line up for this Year’s celebration.
