The Nigerian Military has officially launched the Joint Army-Navy Mobile Strike Force (MOSFOR) at Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, following the completion of all necessary arrangements.
The elite force, made up of personnel from the Nigerian Army and the Navy’s Special Boat Service (SBS), is fully equipped with Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and other Armoured Fighting Vehicles. Designed to operate independently, MOSFOR will carry out clearance operations, secure main supply routes, and conduct aggressive patrols across the Sector 3 Area of Responsibility.
On 25 May 2025, the military intensified its offensive against Boko Haram and other criminal elements through coordinated operations led by top military commanders. These include the Acting Commander of Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI/Multinational Joint Task Force, Brigadier General Suleiman Tilawan; Commander 19 Brigade, Brigadier General SS Ahmed; Commander 403 Amphibious Brigade, Brigadier General E. Agada; and Commander, Naval Base Lake Chad, Commodore Hyacinth Nwaka.
According to Lieutenant Ayodeji Abiodun, Acting Assistant Director, Public Relations, Headquarters Sector 3, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), the launch of the Mobile Strike Force underscores the Nigerian Military’s unwavering commitment to protecting innocent citizens and eradicating criminal elements from the region.
