Nigeria @ 62: Qua’an-Pan LGC Launches Drug Revolving Scheme, Distributes Relief/Empowerment to Groups

As part of activities marking Nigeria’s 62nd Independent Celebrations, the Council Chairman of Qua’an-Pan, Plateau State, Hon Ernest Abner Da’a, officially launched the Drug Revolving Scheme and handed over drugs and other hospital equipment to the Primary Health Care Department for onward distribution to selected PHC Clinics in the locality.

Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a presented 15 brand new Desktop Computers to Potter Memorial Secondary School of the COCIN RCC Kwalla. He also presented cheques worth millions of naira to Virgilus Memorial (OLA) Hospital Namu, Kurgwi Central Mosque, the Kwa (Darika) Central Mosque and the Kwa Izalatul (JIBWIS).

Equally, in collaboration with Beautiful Gates Foundation, over 100 wheelchairs were presented to People Living with Disabilities within the Local Government.

Making the presentations during the 62nd Independence Day celebration at the Qua’an-Pan Mini Stadium Ba’ap, the Council Boss stated that; the computers were donated to encourage digital and e-learning in the schools, especially where ICT Centres are established.

”I wish to inform you that, we hold our workers in high esteem. Apart from ensuring that their emolument, arrears, and those of former staff, are paid, we have taken the bold steps to provide them a conducive environment to perform their responsibilities to the highest level. To achieve this, the regime will expand the Secretariat to accommodate more staff. Already, tenders for the Secretariat extension and other projects have been advertised for bidders,” Hon Da’a declared.

Hon Da’a took time to list other administration’s achievements to include provisions of computers to some secondary schools to enhance e-learning; tricycles to some people living with disabilities; promotion of peaceful coexistence through a Peace Football Tournament involving the Youths from the 8 Districts of the LGA and inter-religious dialogue.

Others include prompt payments of counterparts fund to donor agencies and partnership with some health organizations in order to attend to the medical needs of the people of the locality, provisions of Free Medical Outreach for citizens; and praised the PHC staff for their dedication and making the LGA proud, especially on immunization.

He assured the people of Qua’an-Pan that the years ahead would be rosy as the Council has earmarked many projects for execution, promising that, “As we look to the years ahead, the Council will look at ecological issues, organize another Free Medical Services and restructure the Secretariat to provide enough and conducive working environment, towards better service delivery”

Among dignitaries who gave goodwill messages, Chief Ayuba Burki of the Beautiful Gates Foundation, who applauded the Council for the large heart towards the less privileged in the locality, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the wheelchairs and prove that there is “ability in disability.”

Speaking on behalf of the Qua’an-Pan Traditional Council, the Long Pan Nda Emmanuel Dabang, represented by the District Head of Bwall, Miskagam Jerome Leklat II, encouraged the people to embrace peace and unity, saying the gesture shown by the local government council deserves commendation and support for more.

Beneficiaries from the various groups, took turns to thank the QP Project administration, led by Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, for the show of love and intervention, pledging to pray and mobilize support for his regime.

Highlights of the Celebration included symbolic handing over of wheelchairs to the Council Chairman by Chief Ayuba Burki for onward distribution to the beneficiaries, presentation of the drugs/health equipment to the PHC Department for onward distribution to selected PHC Clinics.

Others included, presentation of Cheques and computers to Leaders of the Religious Faiths (CAN and JNI) who in turn handed over to the benefitting institutions.

Dignitaries and well wishers at the event were trilled by the cultural dance troupes. The event was climaxed with the finals of the Endless Possibilities Peace Football Tournament.
