Ngoyop Hannatu Chollom passes on

Privy information reaching us suggests that veteran politician and grass-root mobilizer, Ngoyop Hannatu Chollom has died.

Late Mrs Chollom who was known in political circles for her dogged and tenacious approach to issues to state and national issues, was said to have died after a prolonged illness in Jos.

Until her death, Mrs. Chollom held several portfolios within PDP, especially in the areas of women mobilization. For instance, she was one time women leader of the defunct NPP, and was one of the founding members of PDP both at the state and national levels.

Additionally, she was a member of the Arewa Elders Forum and was one of the few politicians who famously challenged Olusegun Obasanjo on his alleged third term bid. In 1999, she contested for the senate seat of Plateau North, but lost to Senator Davou Zang and has held several positions within and outside the state. Before joining the murky waters of politics, Ngoyop Hannatu Chollom trained as a secretarial linguist.

She survived by several children and grand children. Arrangements for her interment are yet to be released by the family.
