Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, the wife of a leading Gubernatorial Aspirant under the All Progresives Party(APC) in Plateau State, Ngo Sarah Yop Dakum,has rolled out the score card of her husband,Dr.Patrick Sunday Dakum to APC women leaders in the State.
Sarah Dakum made this known when she met with the Party Women Leaders to share ideas and to strategize the way forward for the Consolidation for Greater Plateau 2023 Team.
The meeting which was held in the three senatorial zones in Shendam, Pankshin and Jos South respectively, enabled Ngo Sarah Dakum to meet with the leadership of the APC women to intimate them of the intention of her husband, Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum, who is aspiring for the seat of Governor in the State.
Sarah Dakum who was welcome and received by the women with songs and dancing at Yelwa Club in Jos South was so excited and appreciated them for the solidarity.
She informed the gathering of her husband’s aspiration, and as a wife, it is her responsibility to add value to his life for progress, and being a novice to politics, she cannot do it alone, but to seek for their support, co-operation to tap from their wealth of experience, knowledge and to also work with them so as to achieve the set goal of gaining access to Government House, Little Rayfield.
She explained confidently that her husband is capable of doing what he aims at doing as he is not a failure but a go-getter.Her words, “I can confidently say that my husband is capable of doing what he aims at doing,he is not a failure, but a go-getter. He has facilitated a lot of organizations that are beneficial to people in the society,not only Plateau State,but in the 36 States. He has employed about 1000 qualified staff,as at today working under him at Institute of Human Virology in Nigeria (IHVN and about 400 are from Plateau.Adding that “my husband does not discriminate”.She pointed out that “over 1000 students gained admission in the university of Jos when he was working at the University of Jos. The family meets yearly with 250 widows across the State to meet there needs where necessary. He champions the course of women and orphans, girl child and the needy,he gives uncountable scholarships,she maintained.
Mrs Dakum equally described her husband as humble, one who is so much involved in the work of God, he draws his inspiration and his best at the place of Prayer (Alter).He loves and fears the Lord and that he is a man with multiple talents.
According to her, ‘I know there are many candidates interested in the same position, but I am presenting my husband to you,because women are critical in all aspects and have the liberty of making their decision and can make things to happen.
Therefore,he has given himself to serve the people and the great party, APC for progress and to also make it formidable.
The wife of the aspirant assured that with her husband at the helm of affairs, the party will be the envy of the people because it will be a formidable party, urging the women to be proud of APC, stand firm, work with the youths, avoid selfishness but be determined in their heart, as responsibility comes with success.
The group of women at the meeting who took turns to express their willingness to work with her, commended her for being bold to sale the aspiration of her husband.
The APC Northern zone Co-ordinator, Ngo Bang Dalyop, assured Mrs Dakum of the support of the women in the zone, saying, “We have never seen or met with any aspirant’s wife in this state. This is the first time.This is an honour to us women, your humility has given us a lot of encouragement.We are happy. For this reason, we will not disappoint you in any way” she assured.
The leaders from Jos North, Jos South, Jos East, Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, advised the involvement of party Co-ordinators and foot soldiers to start early to keep the foundation strong, and to avoid confusion and the obvious.
Ngo Sarah Yop Dakum posited that” We will all fraternize as a team so that together, we shall strengthen the Dakum Consolidation Team, God helping us” with periodic meetings, prayers, we will excel with our mandate.
While assuring the wife of the aspirant of their zeal and effort to work for them to be victorious in their quest, the women were also quick to say please, Don’t forget us when you get into the Government House in Rayfield, though, you people will be overwhelmed with people,but remember us”.The women said with the fillers and the pulse of the people,the Consolidation for Greater Plateau Team led by Dr Patrick Sunday Dakum does not have any problem”
On her part, Charity Dimlong who is the Co-ordinator of Pankshin Local Government Area in Central Zone, called on all women to shun pettiness, avoid pull her down syndronme, foul language and support their fellow women to better Strengthen the Consolidation Team.In her words, “a golden fish has no hiding place,we need to work hard to support and achieve it.Women leaders should intensify effort to dignify their status.She urged the women to relay on God,women are known for faithfulness and trust, therefore,it should be kept and let’s stand on that,she pleaded.
Earlier,the Co-ordinator of the Consolidation for Greater Plateau Team, led by Dr Patrick Sunday Dakum in Jos South LGA,Hon Deme Joseph said he will join hands to work with the women and the Dakum Consolidation Team to tap from his wealth of knowledge, adding that with fervent pettition and prayers, nothing is impossible with God.
While responding, Mrs Dakum thanked the women for finding her worthy of their time, sacrifice, show of love and solidarity. She assured them of every support and the spirit of togetherness, and plead with them not to sale their conscience for the highest bidder because it goes beyond money.
There were testimonies by some women whom the aspirant helped, individually, and as a community that has impacted positively in their lives and they see it as utmost important to reciprocate the kind gesture through his aspiration for him to succeed for a better state.
