Plateau has added two more gold medals to their kitty in the ongoing National sports festival holding in Abuja.
Patrick Barde who contested in the Weightlifting 109kg class, lifted 140kg and 162kg weights in Jack and clean/Jack respectively to win 2gold and 1silver.
Dung Williams, also of the weightlifting, clinched 2bronze in the Super Heavy category, having lifted 133kg weight.
In Cycling, Caroline Dung grab the silver medal in the Individual Time Trials event.
Sadiq Abubakar of Teakwondo, late Wednesday evening secured silver in the plus 87kg class bout.
Shehu Mu’azu of athletics settled for bronze in the Ten thousand metres race.
In Other results famale Handball tesm booked a place in the finals with Rivers after bringing FCT to their knees with a 31 to 25 defeat.
The male Volleyball team have also qualified for the semi finals with a 3-1 spanking of Yobe.
The story is however,is not the same with female Volleyballers as a 3-1 loss to Kaduna was enough to sent the team crashing.
For the Basketball female, the two wins they secured against Zamfara and Adamawa saw them through to the semi finals while the male Hockey,team has been forced to play the third place match after loosing 0-2 to Oyo,just as their female counterpart will be going for silver if they defeat Ondo in their next match.
In Golf overall winner of the just concluded Plateau State golf governor’s cup,PRO Ayuba Izang,won a bronze medal in the Stable forth event while the duo of Melchizedek Kaze and Dauda Izang are through to the finals of the double match play
Meanwhile Plateau has crashed out in Beach Volleyball, Dambe and Squash singles event but remained hopeful in Chess, scrabble,kokowa and squash doubles.
Badminton, Gymnastics, cycling,karate and Golf will continue on Thursday.
As at Wednesday evening Plateau state had a total of twenty five medals comprising of four gold, Eight silver and thirteen bronze.
