The National Progressive Network have called on President Mohammadu Buhari, the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu who doubles as the Party’s Presidential Candidate to pick His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong the Excutive Governor of Plateau State as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the APC in the 2023 General election.

The group described Lalong as the ideal National figure that will consolidate on the credibility of the Party’s Candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the poll.
According to the group, Lalong’s peaceful nature, verse leadership experience and demonstration of religious tolerance peaks him as an indispensable personality that must be included on the ticket to give every region a sense of inclusiveness.

In a statement, jointly signed by Senator Emmanuel Ekoja, Hon. Babangida Malabu, the group said Lalong being a two time Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, two time Governor of Plateau State who has performed incredibly well especially in restoring peace and inter religious tolerance in Plateau state and the country at large is a perfect mix that will ensure the party comes out victorious at the 2023 general election.

According to them, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong –the Chairman of Northern Governors Forum is the one who insisted that the party’s Presidential ticket must be zoned to the South in the interest of fairness and justice, a move that punctured the plans of the National Chairman of the APC to crown a Northern consensus candidate.
