The national directorate of employment (NDE) has commenced the training of one hundred and twenty youth in vocational skills acquisition under its basic national open apprenticeship scheme.

NDE coordinator, Mr Stephen Ndaka, said the aim is to empower the youth and reduce unemployment in the country.

Mr Ndaka said the objective of the training is also to create skilled persons, both in rural and urban areas, who will be self-employed and further create employment.

He added that the training would last for six months.
