As the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2023 commence at 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos Plateau State, the Nigerian Army on Sunday 30th June, 2024 has acknowledged the place of God in it’s successes as it work towards achieving its overall mandate of restoring peace, protecting The Nation’s territorial integrity and the Citizens.
In his remarks during the Interdenominational Church Service which held at Sebastine Catholic Military Church Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos Plateau State, the Chief Host of the NADCEL 2024 and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja who was represented by the Corp Commander Engineering Nigerian Army, Major General Philip Eromosele hinted that the history of the Nigerian Army came with experience having being through wars, low-intensity conflicts and military operations other than war such as peacekeeping/peace enforcement as well as military aid to civil authority engagements.
He said the various Army leadership to that served the Nation came up with policies and programmes that shaped the structure, posture and efficiency of the force and built its cherished culture over the time.
His words “about 161 years on, Nigeria today boasts of a force that is globally reckoned with. A Force renowned for its tenacity and adaptability.
“I believe it is in recognition of the pace of thankfulness to God for the past year and the need to seek divine guidance and blessings for a new Year that our forefathers initiated the NADCEL religious activities aside from the celebration programmes”
He said the gathering was to thanks God for the guidance over the past year and to seek His continued blessings, grace and favour.
“Like the eagle bird that symbolizes strength in the Nigerian Army logo, we have congregated before the Almighty to renew our strength to soar higher and accomplish missions in the new Year” he said.
While appreciating President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support, the Chief of Army Staff said he is poised to achieve his command philosophy which seeks “to transform the Nigeria. Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated Force Towards Achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment”
In his sermon on the topic “Integrating Religious Morals in Combating Security Challenges in a Joint Environment” the Deputy Director Chaplain Services Protestant 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos, Lieutenant Colonel Ayuba Usman disclosed that the Interdenominational Church Service was aimed at seeking the face of God who is the Almighty.
He said the Nigerian Army is to thank God in line with its motto that victory comes from Him alone and to express gratitude to Him for the successes in their various operations across the Nation and for His divine blessings. He said the Interdenominational Church Service is customary and part of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration activities.
He admonished the congregation to live a life of total obedience and patience even in affliction as well as prioritize forgiveness saying in so doing they will be pleasing God and live in peace with others.
General prayers were offered for Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Armed Forces, Nigerian Army and those who died in active service to the Nation.
Major highlights of the Interdenominational Church Service were song ministration by Women Fellowship, combine Choir and NADCEL special thanksgiving.
The NADCEL 2024 which is a week-long event holding at 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos, Plateau State is to commemorate 161 Years of existence of the Nigerian Army and will witness Dignitaries across the Nation and beyond. The event has as its theme “Transforming the Nigerian Army: Imperative for combating contemporary security challenges within a joint environment”
