The Nigerian Army has again reassured Nigerians that it will remain an instrument for National unity and integration for the common good of the populace.
The assurance was given by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Armoured Division Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos Plateau State, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim who doubles as the Commander Operation Safe Haven during the Interdenominational Church Service to commemorate the 2023 Nigerian Army Day Celebration.
The GOC who was represented by the Chief of State of the Division, Brig. Gen. David Kirmi disclosed that the Nigerian Army will continue to do its best and deploy adequate measures towards achieving its overall mandate of securing the Nation against enemies of peace. He said the Nigerian Army will not relent in playing its constitutional roles of protecting lives and property of the citizens as well as protect the nation’s territorial integrity.
He applauded the gallantry and professionalism of the Army Personnel for the successes recorded so far in combatting the insecurity bedeviling the Nation and went further to call for support from well meaning Citizens so the Nigerian Army can have be victorious over the enemies of the Nation.
In a brief sermon, Lt. Col. Martins Awoyinka of the 3 Division Chaplain Services urged the congregation and other Christians to make God and things that concerns Him their priority. The Reverend Father harped on the need for love, treating others with respect and correcting one another in love irrespective of ethnic and religious backgrounds as well as social statuses in the society. He said the problems confronting the Nation need to be addressed tactfully and peacefully. He called for attitudinal change by the populace and the need for true patriotism to move the Nation to enviable height.
According to the Clergy, Nigeria must work for unity and learn to do what is right by avoiding cutting corners.
Special prayers were also observed for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Army, retired/Discharged Officers/Soldiers, the bereaved and for the Nation at large to achieve peace and unity.
The event which held at the All Saint’s Military Protestant Church, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos was well attended by Officers, Soldiers, their families/well wishers with great song ministrations from the Band, Choir, Women fellowship and parade by the Boys Brigade.
