The Federal Executive Council has approved N5.6 billion for the completion of a water project in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau to boost water supply. The project if completed will provide portable water to about 10 communities with a population of over 700,000.
Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe told State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan. She said the contract was awarded to Messrs Infiouest Limited, with a completion period of 36 months.

Ochekpe added that the Dam which is part of Regional Water Supply Scheme in the state will benefit communities including Mangu, Gindiri, Mangu Hale, Kadunu, Vodni, Panyam, Pushit, Ampang, Mangun and Lagai.
The minister said N5.4 billion of the project will be made available from the Hydraulic Infrastructure and National Security Fund, with another N100 million appropriated for the project in the 2014 budget while the balance of N101 million will be provided in the 2015 budget to complete the project.
