A 20 year old final year Architecture Student of the Bells University of Technology (Bellstech), Ogun State, Ms. Ellen Gyang Woshi from Riyom LGA, Plateau State has emerged one of the winners of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Support for Entrepreneurship at the just concluded Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Forum 2019.
Ms. Ellen Gyang prepared a robust business plan which she credibly defended and was accepted by the Board of Tony Elumelu Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs in Africa.
Ms Ellen who was the only successful applicant from Plateau State made a business proposal for cream production and distribution.
She received a prize of $5000 from the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
The fifth edition of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Forum held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, the Nigerian Capital from 26th – 27th July, 2019.
The two-day event was themed ‘Empowering African Entrepreneurs,’ and hosted “the largest gathering of entrepreneurs, policymakers, and business leaders,” according to the organisers.
The forum featured a masterclass, a dynamic pitching competition, panel debates, and a presidential debate. It engaged an audience of 5,000, comprising of startup entrepreneurs, development institutions, and policymakers.
Ms Ellen was accompanied by her father, Engr. Gyang Woshi and Rep. Simon Mwadkwon PhD, Member Representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.
The occasion was symbolic as it’s aimed at empowering young Africans, creating timeless wealth and prosperity through grants. Ms Ellen is by this, an entrepreneurial model and mentor to aspiring youngsters aspiring to break barriers of poverty through ingenuity, business acumen and intellectual mobility.
In his remarks, Hon Simon Mwadkwon PhD, counsel other young entrepreneurs especially of Plateau State Origin to be bold and courageous in breaking new grounds and fare into new opportunities in line with today’s global competitiveness in the business world.
Rep. Mwadkwon congratulated the young Plateau Ellen who hails from Riyom Local Government area of Plateau State.
