Miss Ruth John Ibande, a young Entrepreneur has emerged Miss Kiche 2019 in a keenly contested Beauty Pageant organized by the Bache Youth Movement (BYM) Bassa LGA, Plateau State.
Miss Ruth Ibande said she will focus on empowerment and capacity building through strategic entrepreneurial programmes and trainings.
The pageant held at Prestige Event Centre Jebbu-Bassa, Bassa LGA was part of the programme to mark the 2019 Bache Youth Movement Week.
Miss Ruth Ibande emerged winner after beating two other Contestants in a keenly contested pageant where talents, knowledge of the Bache tradition, current affairs and outfits were assessed.
Chairman of the occasion Hon. Simon Mwadkwon, PhD, Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency Plateau State at the National Assembly called on the Bache Youths to display true patriotism, be more united and concentrate on self development.
Dr. Simon Mwadkwon said youths possess multidimensional abilities, talents, capabilities and potentials which must be harnessed for national development. He said youths should not put their gifts and abilities to negative ventures and should not allow themselves to be used by greedy persons for their parochial interests.
He said the critical roles being played by the youths to national unity, peace, cohesion, progress, growth and development cannot be overemphasized.
He called on government and well meaning individuals to invest considerably well in the youth saying in so doing, a peaceful, safer, prosperous and secured future is guaranteed.
Dr. Mwadkwon admonished the youths to take their education seriously, discard indolence and make skill acquisition a priority.
He said the role and place of the youths in the socioeconomic development of the nation cannot be jettisoned.
He said despite the the harsh economic situation, the youth must remain patriotic, be agent of peace and optimistic of a better future.
The Federal Lawmaker made these known through Cmr. Friday Bako who represented him at the 2019 Miss Kiche and Bache Youth Movement Week.
The Lawmaker appreciated the Bache Youth Movement for finding him worthy to serve as Chairman of the occasion and commended them for putting up such rich initiative.
President of Bache Youth Movement (BYM), Cmr. Samuel Adupson thanked the Federal Legislator for honoring their invitation describing him as a detribalized, humble, youth-friendly and people-oriented Leader.
He thanked him for being supportive of the Bache Youths and prayed God to reward him immensely.
The BYM President in his speech thanked all those who graced the occasion and said the skills acquired by the youths in the course of the 2019 BYM Week will help the youths toward building themselves with the aim of being useful not only to themselves but the society at large. He urged them to put the training and skills acquired into proper use and remain focused and diligent.
The event which was well attended by illustrious sons and daughters of Bache Nation also featured music performances and discussion cycle.
