Meet the New Executive Secretary Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (DMCMA), Pharm. Kim Jerry Bot

The New Executive Secretary of Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency, Pharmacist Kim Jerry Bot was born to the family Ngo Talatu and Dr. Jerry Bot of Ket village, Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State. He attended the College of Education Staff Children School in Gindiri, Mangu Local Government Area and obtained the First School Leaving Certificate in the year 1996. He thereafter proceeded to the reputable Government Science Secondary School, Kuru, in Jos South LGA, Plateau State where he obtained the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) certificates in the year 2002. The then younger Kim, being desirous of, and determined to contribute his own quota to societal development, gained admission into the University of Jos, where he attained his passion studying medicines/drugs and graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in the year 2011. The distinguished Pharmacist subsequently went a notch further and obtained a Master degree (Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry) in the year 2021. Obviously not yet satisfied with his stint at Pharmacy schooling and learning, the Executive Secretary then went ahead to enroll for the highest academic programme of study in his chosen Pharmacy field of study, the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme, which he is currently undertaking.

As a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), a graduate of the Leadership & Management in Health programme, University of Washington, USA, and an experienced Supply Chain expert, Pharmacist Kim has worked in Pharmaceutical and Medical research, on different roles and diverse global projects. He has also had different community pharmacy roles and responsibilities and has taught major aspects of the Pharmacy profession at the Bingham University, Karu, among other various graduate and post-graduate fora.

Pharmacist Kim has worked in the industrial Pharmacy setting as a business development and medical representative, in the academic system as a lecturer, the humanitarian setting as a consultant with FHI360-SIDHAS where warehousing of HIV commodities and clinical services were his key roles, a consultant with malaria consortium and Fleming Fund (UKAID) for Mapping of Antimicrobial Consumption and Antimicrobial Resistance Partnership (MAAP) and have as well explored the community Pharmacy setting as an MD/CEO of Kimky Pharmaceuticals where Kim pioneered Tele-Pharmacy, does well on pharmacovigilance, provides support with medications to individuals, groups and IDPs, reshaped practices at that level as one who believes in quality, safety and efficacy of medications and pharmaceutical products. Kim is also known for providing information about medicines, their safe use and preventive healthcare generally.

Pharmacist Kim has also attended and worked on a plethora of other scientific projects, workshops, research and presentations in medical, scientific and pharmacy-related phenomena and/or topics. These engagements have resulted in more than ten awards of professional and character recognition from local, international and professional entities, including:
-Pfizer Award of Excellence: in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of Community Pharmacy, received at the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Conference “Jewel City 2023” in Gombe – 2023
-Award of Recognition for exponential growth of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG) across Nigeria – 2022.
-Lecturer of the Year 2021/2022 – Faculty of Pharmacy, Bingham University, Karu – 2022.
-Star of the month of October 2020 – Fleming Fund MAAP Project across Nigeria, and Star of the month of September 2020 – Fleming Fund MAAP Project across Northern Nigeria
-Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students, University of Jos mentorship award – 2018
-Governor’s Leadership Award, NYSC, Kaduna State – 2014.
-Best EXCO Member, Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS), University of Jos – 2011.
-Other numerous merit awards.
He is well published with reputable scientific journals.
Kim has also provided key community services responsibilities as service to humanity, and are not limited to:
