The finale of the Commander Operation Safe Haven Peace and Unity Football Tournament was attended by Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation Safe Haven.
The event was held on May 31, 2025, at Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State and was organised by Forward Operating Base Sanga.
Commander Forward Operation Base Sanga, Major Mohammed Galadima, welcomed guests and stated that the competition brought together people from different chiefdoms.
Twelve teams from eleven chiefdoms, including the Fulani, participated in the tournament.
Major General Oyinlola delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of sports in promoting peace and understanding.
He urged the people of Sanga to prioritize peace and reassured them of Operation Safe Haven’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The Commander thanked the Kaduna State Government for creating an enabling environment.
The grand finale featured a match between Wasa FC and Ara Ward, with Wasa FC emerging as winners.
Highlights included the final match, presentation of medals and cash prizes, and cultural displays.
