BIOGRAPHY OF LATE DARA AUDU SAMUEL GYANG.

Late Mr. AUDU SAMUEL GYANG was born on 3rd September, 1950 at Kwogo Hoss, in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State into the family of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Gyang of Kwogo Hoss, Plateau State.

EDUCATION
Sam Gyang, as Adara was popularly called started his elementary school at LEA Primary School Kwok-Hoss in January 1958 and obtained his Fist School Leaving Certificate in December 1964.
He passed his common entrance examination and was admitted into the then Plateau Provincial Secondary School which is now Government Science School Kuru in the year January, 1965.
He completed his secondary education in 1969 with marvelous grades and proceed to Government College Keffi, from Jan. 1970 to Dec. 1971 where he obtained his HSC.
Due to Adara’s insatiable quest for knowledge and advancement, he applied and got admitted in to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1972, there he was awarded the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), B. Eng. (Civ) Hons. in the year 1975.
In 1975, Adara secured his Master of Science in Bridge/Structural Engineering, M.Sc (Brd), he proceeded to National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru (SEC.19) that same year before he travelled out to to he University of Survey, Guildford, UK from October 1979 to September 1980.

WORK CAREER
Late Dara Sam Gyang began his career in the Plateau State Urban Development Board, Jos in 1981 as a deputy Chief engineer.
He graciously became the Chief engineer, Jos Metropolitan Development Board that same year and served from 1981-1986.
Due to his dedication and hard work, he was appointed General manager/Chief Executive Jos Metropolitan Development Board from year, 1986 to 1989.
From 1989 to 1992, he was appointed commissioner and member, Plateau State Executive Council, he served in the ministries of;
i. Works, Housing and Transport
ii. Commerce, Industries and Tourism
iii. Information and Culture.
He was appointed Rector/Chief Executive, Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi from 1992 to the year 2000 after which he in the same year pursued and acquired a post graduate diploma in Theology (PGDTH) at the Jos ECWA theological seminary, (JETS).
He then resigned from permanent and pensionable appointment with Plateau State Government on October 12th, 2001.

Dara Sam Gyang performed so many Ad-hoc duties amongst which where;
i. Chairman, task force on rehabilitation of Jos township roads, street lights, refuse collection and disposal.
ii. Member, special committee appointed by Plateau State Government to produce a physical development plan for Jos-Bukuru metropolis
iii. Member, committee to investigate fire disaster at Government Secondary School Bwalbwang, Gindiri.
iv. Member, Berom educational and cultural organization (BECO), trust fund.
v. Member, Plateau State elders forum and peace reconciliation committee.

He engaged himself in private businesses before his demise.

RELIGIOUS LIFE
Dara loved God, reverenced Him, trusted Him, served Him and died in the Lord. Hallelujah!
He studied the bible and other religious literatures with passion.
His words were seasoned with the word of God, his counsel and admonition, bible based.
Dara played prominent roles in various departments of the Church with great dedication and submission.
His love for God manifested in his deeds and formed the basis for his love for humanity and desire to mentor and empower the downtrodden.L
ittle Wonder, he was a father to countless.

SOCIAL LIFE
Dara Sam Gyang made significant impact on the lives of many across all divides through his charity works and mentorship capacity.
His act of kindness and selflessness had a tremendous impact on people not just from his community or immediate family but from far and wide.
He made himself available at all times to be used by God in meeting the needs of the needy.
Dara was very humble, peace and loving;
A great leader and role model.
He loves listening to gospel music, making theological research, reading biographies, cycling and playing squash.

FINALLY
Though Dara Sam Gyang was in out of the hospital for a while, we where optimistic about recovery, we hoped that we would stand by his side before the congregation of believers to testify of God’s goodness in his life but the words of the scriptures makes us to understand that God’s thoughts and His ways are not as humans.
Though we wished Adara could have stayed more longer with us, God was more concerned abiut his eternal life which we’re confident has been secured; we have no option but to succumb to His supreme Will.
We’ll sure miss Adara’s teachings, love and great compassion but we’re consoled with the fact that he’s resting.

Left to mourn Dara Sam Gyang are countless loved ones from far and near that time and space won’t permit to mention but may the good Lord bless all those that have sheared with us time and resources in this difficult season.
