The new Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Kanke local government area, Hon Godi Gotus has appealed to all members of the party to close ranks and work together for the success of the party. He also enjoined members to see politics as a tool of collective development and progress and therefore, must be patient with one another to achieve that goal.
According to the former Majority Leader of the Council’s Legislature, his leadership will carry everyone along and hence no cause for worry and no need to despair. While commending his predecessor and all the former LGA and ward excos for their services to the party, he congratulated his colleagues for emerging victorious in the just concluded ward and LGA congresses. The new chair challenged the new exco to brave up for the serious task of reuniting the rank and file of the party and positioning it for future victories.
He said Kanke LGA is a traditional PDP enclave, but suffered avoidable losses due to personal and selfish miscalculations and deliberate irreconcilable differences. He said the party under his leadership will overcome all these and bring together everyone back to the fold and reclaim our political status in the zone.
The new exco, he added, will swing into immediate action by setting up reconciliation committees at both the LGA and ward levels down to the unit levels for prompt and lasting unity.
He called on those who plan to leave the party because they lost out in the recent congresses to see politics as a game that is given to time. As democrats, we are confronted with such challenges everyday, but its our capacity, maturity and capability to swallow our ego and accept realities that makes the difference in political leadership.
He assured that no one will be sidelined or left behind under the new regime and that all those who left the party in the wake of the misunderstandings will return to their first love. Together, he said,.the party will take back power from the ruling APC in the LGA, as already many have indicated interest to return home.
The new Chairman commended the federal, state and local governments for their good efforts at curtailing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, but observed that the masses are hungry and suffering due to lack of food and accompanying democratic condiments and that except there is a balance of concern and methodological quantum, the pendulum will swing more adversely to the other side at the expense of the other.
Hon Gotus advised the people to adhere strictly to the protocols of personal hygiene, mandatory use of face masks, social distancing and staying at home, as instructed by the authorities for their own safety. He said the party will join in the campaign to rid the nation of the deadly virus.
Signed: Hon Wutokwe Kassem,
PRO, Kanke LGA PDP.
