The first step by the Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong towards setting up the much-awaited State Executive Council has been set in motion as he submits the commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly.

Also at the presentation at the house of assembly, was the submission of a supplementary budget of over N5 billion for consideration, covering recurrent expenditure of over N3 billion and capital expenditure of over N2 billion.

The supplementary budget was to be read yesterday for the second time as requested by the Speaker, Hon. Peter Azi, but it was observed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gadgi that members did not have copies of the budget as expected. Thus, the review and consideration of the budget was shelved.

In another development, the newly elected member of the House representing Quaan Pan North Constituency, Hon. Eric Dakogol of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was also sworn in. His election followed the death of the former member from the area, Hon. Godfrey Dashe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Also on the floor of the House, was a communication from the governor informing it of the removal of the chairman, Management Committee of Jos East Local Government, Mr. Sanda Agwom and replaced with Mr. Hosea Aliyu Azi. The governor cited security reasons for the removal of Agwom.

Meanwhile, Pankshin Local Government Council of Plateau State yesterday set up a 16-man committee to screen and verify its staff strength due to its huge monthly wage bill.

Chairman of the council, Mr. Stephen Jings, who inaugurated the committee, said the screening became imperative in view of the huge wage bill the council had been paying over the time.
