The Commissioner of Works and Transport in Plateau State, Hon. Pam Dongs, has called on the staff of the Ministry to rise up to their responsibilities and work towards ensuring that they deliver on the policy thrust of the Governor Simon Lalong government.

Dongs made the call during the handing over ceremony conducted between him and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Sunday Hyat, on Tuesday at the state secretariat in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

He solicited the cooperation of the staff of the ministry, stressing that many things have passed under the bridge during the past administration as it relates to lack of goodwill and undemocratic processes in the execution projects.

He said: “My friends are those that work hard and I respect Labourers.

“Development is measured by the positive human development.

“The worst building you can see standing is that of government structure.”

Dongs said government would ensure maintenance culture on roads to ensure that roads in the state are better managed before they reach deplorable level, causing accident and loss of lives.

He said: “If we allow our deplorable roads, many Nigerians will die as a result of road accidents.

“It is shameful that Nigeria’s petroleum cannot effectively provide qualitative social amenities to cater for the well-being of its citizenry.

“I want everybody to be punctual and respect his or her work.”
