You may recall that President Buhari was said to have commissioned 400 tractors at New Government House, little rayfield.

For the record, the Anchor Borrowers Scheme of the Federal Government from which these tractors were supplied were from contribution of farmers who paid N1.5m for each. The agreement by the participating farmers is to supply MF (Massey Faguson) whose parts is readily available and skilled mechanic abound

To the chagrin of the farmers, the Government and their Italian contractors bought for a humongous unit price of N14m each a less valuable, less durable Italian Deauz Tractors that have no service parts anywhere in Nigeria.

Presently the farmers are still rebelling against the change of tractor specification for which they made part payments. In addition, the tractor seems refurbished because some broke down on their way to Govt house (Toh Jamaa’ if they are breaking down for a journey less than a Km what do we expect on a rigorous farmland?). Most sadden on the tractors bojuboju is that they all came without operational implements (Harrow, Plowed, and Riggers). What is a tractor without operational implements? The State Government had to hire the operational implements for the launch of the 50nos tractors. Chei! What a shame!

As at the time of this write-up, the total numbers of tractors supplied are 96 (before Mr. President arrived they were 68 tractors supplied of which 50 were driven to Govt House for the commissioning and another 26 came in last week). Plateau people wake up! Ask for the 400 tractors whereabouts as propagated by the Governor and his team.

What drew my curiosity to research more on the tractors was when I followed the movement of some of these tractors and implement as they entered a tractor sale depot in Dadin-Kowa next day President Buhari left. Are these Tractors sent to public market?

Why should it be a concern? Between 2016 and 2017, all tractors own by the Ministry of Agric in Mabudi Farm (L/South LG), Wase Farm (Wase LG), Yelwa Shendam(Shendam LG), Bokkos Farm (Bokkos LG), Gindri (Bassa LG) were auction along with those control by the 17 LG. Guess who bought these auctioned tractors? Lalong’s men!

There the rumor that even the tippers used for picking our solid waste are sold in a privatization move by Lalong of the solid waste disposal system. So let’s asked questions because am not seeing these tippers in the frequencies they use to be.

Oh, Plateau!
